Welcome to the Beginning of Ordinary Time
While we continue to celebrate the Christmas season – ending 40 days after Christmas Day on February 2nd, the Feast of the Presentation of our Lord – we likewise notice that the light of Christ brings longer days of light.
In our weekend scripture readings for the “opening” Sundays of Ordinary Time, we are reminded about the call of discipleship; not only in Jesus’ time with his calling of apostles and men and women as disciples but also our call, through baptism, to be followers and disciples of Jesus Christ.
The next 7 Sundays will lead us into the celebration of Ash Wednesday (February 18, 2015) and help us to prepare for the season of Lent. St. Michael the Archangel Parish calls all Catholics of Hancock County to:
• Make a Faith Commitment to join the parish community each Sunday for Mass
• Be part of an active ministry
• To begin thinking about Ash Wednesday and Lent
