The role of the "Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist" is to assist the priest in the distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ at the parish masses.
A commissioning session is required once every 2 years. Eucharistic ministers must be 16 years of age and have received all their sacraments of initiation, namely, Baptism, First Communion and Confirmation.
