Fr. Mike's Message

Fr Mike

Welcome to the Beginning of Ordinary Time

While we continue to celebrate our Christmas season – 40 days after Christmas Day to February 2, the Feast of the Presentation of our Lord – we likewise notice that the light of Christ brings longer days of light.  In our weekend scripture readings for the “opening” Sundays of Ordinary Time, we are reminded about the call of discipleship; not only in Jesus’ time with his calling of apostles and men and women as disciples but also our call, through our baptism, to be followers and disciples of Jesus Christ.  We ask that Jesus’ spiritual and physical healing will be a part of our lives.

These Sundays of Ordinary Time will lead us into the celebration of Ash Wednesday (February 22, 2012) and help us to prepare for the season of Lent.  St. Michael the Archangel Parish calls all Catholics of Hancock County to:

• Join the parish community each Sunday for Mass
• Be part of an active ministry
• To begin thinking about Ash Wednesday and Lent

God Bless,

Father Mike
